| Juanita Johnson
is a well respected and popular workshop presenter and keynoter. What makes
her workshops and keynotes unique is her ability to give clear factual
information, and yet at the same time share with her audience her own
experiences and struggles through poignant stories. She also has an uncanny
ability to intuit what her student's need from her workshops, classes or
keynote.
She holds a stockpile of stories in her memory that she can pull out and
use when appropriate. Her style of presenting is to be well prepared,
organized and authentic with her audience. Her tone of voice is soothing and
she is easy to listen to. Although she can be funny she is more apt to bring
a tear to your eye as she tells you one of her powerful stories of love,
loss and connection.

how life transitions affect individuals and the difficulties of change.
Many of the workshops seek to develop understanding and skills to help
people better express who they are or want to be in the Second Half of
their Lives. All the workshops are meant to be helpful, inspirational and
fun for participants. Goals and objectives of each workshop are
available upon request.
Workshops last from one hour to two days, and some are available in more
than one length.
A keynote address can be developed from any of the workshop topics. |
Living the Second Half of Life on Purpose
This workshop/conference/course is designed for those approaching
retirement and for the newly retired. It provides a structured road map
that gives students the power to create the ideal retirement life style,
tailored to individual interest, personality, style and situation.
This process includes asking questions such as:
- Who am I? What wisdom do I have to share?
- Will I work, producing income or not? What will this offer me?
- Where is my place in my family, as part of a couple, with
friends?
- Where do I belong in my community? What does it mean to be an
Elder for my community?
- What legacy do I want to leave behind?
- What gives me energy? What do I truly care about?
- Have I taken the opportunity to consider celebrating my
endings and new beginnings?
- What are the spiritual aspects of my Second Half of Life?
Students create their own life vision and identify key new life goals,
strategies, objectives, activities and tasks. They finish the
workshop/course/conference with a Second Half of Life master plan.
An added bonus is finding companions in the course who can offer support
and ongoing connections during the time together and after the class
ends.
Navigating the Adult Daughter/Mother Relationship
- This workshop/course, addresses the all-important and sometimes
challenging relationship between adult daughter and mother. It is
applicable to daughters of aging mothers, daughters whose mothers have
died, and mothers of adult daughters.
- Following an introduction to current research on the mother/daughter
relationship and identifying key elements of the relationship,
participants have the opportunity to explore the dynamics of their own
lives and relationships with mothers, daughters, and daughter -in-laws,
and to some extent, sons.
- An adult daughter/mother duo offer a dialogue during our time
together, offering students the opportunity to discuss the relationship
from both perspectives.
- The goals of the course/workshop are to offer students tips on how
to navigate a healthier relationship with their mother and or daughter(s).
The students also have the support and connection with other class
members and leave the workshop/course with a renewed appreciation for
the complexities of this awesome, longer than life, relationship.
Creating an Ethical Will: Mapping Out Your Most Meaningful Legacy
- Writing an ethical will is a way to share your values,
blessings, life lessons, hopes and dreams for the future, love,
spiritual values and forgiveness, with your family and/or community. In
this workshop/course Juanita tells stories and shares many examples of
ethical wills to stimulate participants in thinking about and writing
their own ethical will.
- The process of writing the will is done slowly and thoughtfully by
topics. Participants will not be expected to write their will all at
once, but rather over the course of several days/weeks, with time for
reflection and conversation.
- In the process of writing an ethical will many participants learn a
lot about themselves, examine what really matters to them, what their
dreams are, and find themselves living with more intention.
- An ethical will may well be the most cherished gift you give to your
family.
